I’ve been a fan of EQ3 since I picked up my first ever bed frame almost five years ago. With their impeccable style and great price points, it’s been a place that I’ve gone back to to pick up hostess gifts, decorate my space or just find great design inspiration. That’s why when I heard they were launching a furniture capsule collection that celebrated their Canadian roots (they design and manufacture in Winnipeg, Manitoba!) I had to check it out.
The ultra modern collection features the works of Kenneth Lavallee, MSDS Studios, Anthony Frank Keeler, Zoë Mowat, Thom Fougere, Dylan McKinnon, Matthew Kroeker, Six Point Un, Shawn Place and Tomas Rojcik for Normal Goods. From the west coast to the east coast, each of the featured designers brought their unique point of view to the pieces they contributed. Separately each piece reflects its maker, together their diversity defines a new national design identity.
My favourite is definitely the duo of side chairs by Matthew Kroeker, which come in solid beechwood or a black finish. It’s based on “The Windsor” chair, which is one of the most iconic furniture pieces of all time. According to EQ3 “…it has survived countless iterations and is still-bent back and arm rail, which streamlines the chair and improves the structure.”
Want to check out the collection? It’s on display at EQ3’s Byward Market location- don’t forget to pick up a copy of their Spring catalogue and a bright blue tote while you’re at it. Here’s a preview of what you’ll find in store.
