Out with the cold and in with the new clothes! Finally after many false starts we’re finally in Spring mode and that means time to clean your closet of your tights, boots and heavy coats. I needed inspiration to start my closet transformation and lucky for me along with some other Ottawa trend setters, I teamed up with Nordstrom to share some of my favourite Spring items. After prancing through their store to put together a head-to-toe look (take a look at the gallery above!) I’ve narrowed my picks to the following top five.
1. A Patterned Neck Scarf
Major trend alert! Cool girls and celebs alike are embracing the classy neckscarf worn as a choker this season. It’s an incredibly easy way to elevate any look, even if it’s a t-shirt and jeans.
2. A Bag in a Standout Colour
Colder days are all about dark hues when it comes to handbags and now it’s time to have a little fun with colour. Don’t be scared to choose a statement colour like mustard thinking that it won’t go with anything- the less “matchy” the hue, the better it will go with your Spring attire.
3. Untraditional Shaped Sunglasses
Everyone already has their go-to classic pair of shades and this season it’s all about going out on a limb and testing out an unexpected shape. Whether that’s ultra round, totally retro or some metallic lenses- have a little fun with your sunnies.
4. Stacked Bracelets
The warmer weather means shorter sleeves and you’re actually able to show off jewelry you wear on your wrists, so stack ’em high.
5. Bold Lipstick
Time to break out the bolder colours now that the sun is shining. Don’t be fooled by the shade of the lipstick, it’s always a good idea to take a closer look by testing the colour out on your hand! This one by Nars looks dark, but comes out in the most amazing fruit punch like colour.
