There’s a reason why snowsuits and cold weather clothes were one of the first items passed on to Syrian refugees in the Winter of 2015. Justin Trudeau himself even gave a snowsuit to Princess Charlotte birthday gift- could it really get more Canadian than that? A snowsuit is something we need to get through our cold winters, it’s a piece of clothing that no one can go without.
The Snowsuit Fund of Ottawa does just that, they help get those cozy snowsuits into the hands of parents that need it most. In fact last year they distributed 16,205 to families here in Ottawa. It’s hard to imagine a Winter where my mom didn’t buddle me up and zip my zipper up so fast that it almost caught on the skin of my neck. It’s even harder to think what over 16,000 snow suits even looks like.
Being part of a community means helping out where you can, supporting those who need help- and it can be done in many ways. Now at the start of summer, where all we want is an ice cold lemonade, those passionate about this cause have come together to do something incredible in support of the 2017 Winter season.
This Friday the Horticulture Building at Lansdowne Park is transforming into Bash 2016 London Calls in support of the Snowsuit Fund of Ottawa. It sounds like a real treat with a Beatles Cover Band, a VIP High Tea Party, and London themed Tavern. What a fun way to support such a wonderful cause- time get seriously ‘groovy baby’!
